Using Vintage TV’s and Music for a Creative Real Estate Video Tour
I think that part of the appeal for any videographer is being different. If your stuff looks the same as everyone else’s, then why should you be hired?
A lot of RE (Real Estate) video tours nowadays use the same formula:
- Speed Ramping
- More Speed Ramping
- Contemporary music usually found on Facebook Sound Collection or similar
- A few drone clips panning around the house
This is a common formula and a lot of agents are just fine with it.
However, other agents want to tell more of a story with their videos. That is the niche I am trying to target, and I have found that these are usually the most high-end agents.
Go to Instagram or Facebook and look for top agents (here is one who is great – Tim Smith) and you will see that they strive to be creatively different.
THIS MAY BE THE FUNNIEST REEL I HAVE EVER SEEN
So I came up with this concept of the vintage TV’s for the video above after hearing that the home had been in the same family in Boulder, Colorado since the early 1900’s. A lot of history and memories and I thought a “now and then” vibe for the video would be good as well as some fitting nostalgic music – Stand By Me by Ben E. King.
Video Quality is very important to me. Many cameras fall apart indoors – not enough dynamic range and flexibility in post-production to pull in any window detail or shadows. I use a Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 6k and shoot in RAW – which allows for that flex in post to get the most dynamic range possible.
Editing was done in Adobe Premiere Pro and the TV effects in After Effects using a template from MotionArray.
